Renal Dialysis Technician

Summary
Reporting to the Operations Leader and under the direction of the Clinical Nurse Leader, Registered Nurse, Renal Technician Supervisor or designate, sets up, operates, monitors, tests, dismantles and cleans dialysis related equipment according to established procedures. Prepares patient for dialysis, observes and reports concerns to nursing staff. Performs preventative and minor maintenance of related equipment, orders and stocks supplies, cleans equipment and maintains a safe, clean environment. Transports patients as required, and provides general patient care activities as necessary and as directed by nursing staff. Shares technical knowledge with other staff and provides input into development of orientation materials. Performs clerical duties as needed.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to deal with others effectively. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Ability to organize work. Ability to operate related equipment.
Education
Grade 12, Graduation from Renal Technician Certificate program, plus one year recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
